Mrs. Lula Lavonia Brownlee Clinkscales, 68, of 1084 Keowee Rd., Iva, SC, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House. 

She was a faithful and devoted member of the Flat Rock AME Church family.  She served in the church as the President of the Jessie Bell Martin Women's Missionary Society, Director of Daughters of Ruth, Pastor's Aide Society, an Usher, Stewardess, and on the Hospitality Committee.  Her community activities consisted of holding membership in the Queen of Abbeville #236 O.E.S, Women Making a Difference, and Women's Aide Society #100.

She attended Carver Elementary School in Due West, South Carolina and graduated from J.S. Wright High School in Abbeville, South Carolina.  She later completed cosmetology school.  She was employed with Abbeville County School District Number 60 and was self employed as a Cosmetologist and the owner of three salons.

She leave to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Joseph Ernest Clinkscales; daughter, Greta (Troy) Young; son, Anthony (Margaret) Clinkscales; four grandchildren, Kortney Clinkscales, Jasmine (Trey) Fisher, Jessica Clinkscales, and Krystal Young; three great-grandchildren, Trinity Clinkscales, Zayden Clinkscales, and Zander Clinkscales; two sisters, Dorothy Lockwood and Darcel Brownlee-Lewis; two brothers, Joseph (Doris) Brownlee and Samuel E. Brownlee, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Lula Tate Brownlee;  five brothers, L.C. Brownlee, Grady Eugene Brownlee, Curtis Brownlee, Offie T. Brownlee, and James Tate; two sisters, Cora Brownlee, and Carol Brownlee.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Flat Rock AME Church in Abbeville, SC.  The interment will follow in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
