Joe Nathan Owens

Mr. Joe Nathan Owens, 80, of Los Angeles, California (formerly of Anderson County, SC), passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA.

Joe attended Spearman Elementary and Spearman High School.  He continued his education at South Carolina State University and UCLA of Los Angeles.  He enlisted in the United States Army and served for 5 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Shirley R. Owens; two brothers, Bobby (Gwendolyn) Owens and Cecil (Carolyn) Owens; three sisters, Amanda Moreland, Amelia (Stanley) Evans, and Rachel (Kirby) Riley; a godson, Kevin Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Lillie Rachel Owens; two children, J. Natalie Owens and Joe Nathan Owens, Jr.; five sisters, Mary Lois Davis, Sara Rodman, Patsy Howard, Faye Salazar, and Linda Cheek; and two brothers, J.D. Owens and Tony Owens.

Services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Mt. Able Baptist Church.  The interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family is at the home of his brother, Bobby (Gwendolyn) Owens, 946 Campbell Rd., Pelzer, SC.
