John Garfield Beaty

Mr. John G. Beaty, 87, of North Carolina, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.  He was born on July 25, 1931 in Oconee County, South Carolina to Norman and Edna Mae Wright Beaty.

John was a former resident of Anderson, South Carolina.  He was a Korean War Veteran and received an honorable discharge in 1952 from the United States Army.  

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sarah Barton Beaty; one step daughter, Angelia (Larry) Wallace; step grandchildren, Tamika, Ayanna, and Danielle; step great-grandchildren, Taniya, Makoya, Dwight II, and Hydia; step great-great-grandchildren, Nacarri, Temari, and Knowledge; a sister-in-law, Vermelle Simmons Beaty; a special niece, Carla Oglesby; two special nephews, Waymond and Raymond Whitfield; two loving cousins, William Pressley and Walter Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Edna Mae Wright Beaty and two brothers, Famon Whitfield, Sr. and George Sefus Beaty.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
