Obituary

Annie Louise Mann-Watt was born in Newark on May 10th, 1947 to Samuel Lee Mann, Sr. and Willie Mae Wiley.  Louise fell asleep in death on May 3, 2022 at the age of 74.

“Weezy” as she was affectionately known by grew up in Newark, NJ as the eldest of eight siblings.  In June 1965, she graduated from Central High School in Newark where she then spent twenty years at General Motors in Linden, NJ working as a assembly line operator. She was also employed by Continental Airlines and New Jersey Transit.

Louise was raised in the truth by her mother. On March 8, 1969, Louise dedicated her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She remained a faithful and loyal servant of Jehovah until her death.  Louise spent several months in a year in the Auxiliary Pioneer work preaching and teaching others the Good News about God’s Kingdom.  Louise was known for her generosity and hospitality by always providing a meal for visiting Circuit Overseers, local speakers, and many congregation gatherings, as well as many family gatherings. Louise with the help of her husband was able to host the saturday field service group in their home for several years.  Always looking for the opportunity to extend a helping hand, Louise was well loved by those who knew her from New Jersey to South Carolina.

When we think about our mother, we all agree there was no one more loving, generous, witty or funnier than her. Her strength, protection, and guidance throughout our lives was of utmost importance, as well as for many others and it’s something we will always cherish. She shared her love of cooking with her family and friends. Especially her children, who enjoyed many weekends as a family together.  She was also an excellent baker and she was best known for her delicious sweet potato pies.  Simply put, her hands never rested from extending loving kindness, her ears were always available for listening, her eyes were always looking for the needs of others, and she used her mouth to praise Jehovah.

A friendship with her was like finding a diamond, it was rare and priceless.  Louise knew that God’s promise for a New World was just around the corner and she was looking forward to welcoming back all of her loved ones during the resurrection.

Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Ewerie Wilson, Erin Wilson, Stayci Evans; her only son, John Wilson; husband John Watt; three sisters, Francine Sutton, Ann Wright, and Linda Gregory; one brother, Bruce Strickland; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one aunt, Joy McLurkin; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Mann; and host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Lee Mann, Sr., and Willie Mae Mann; one sister Paulette Mann Faulcon; and two brothers, Samuel Lee Mann, Jr., and Joseph Mann.
