Christy Michelle Starks-Robinson, age 50, of Country Club Hills, IL passed away on January 14, 2024 at South Suburban Hospital. She was the daughter of Lucious Starks III and Jeanette Wright Starks. Christy was born July 4, 1973 in Greenwood, SC.
Christy was always an inquisitive and ambitious child who excelled in school, work, and life. She had a passion for reading and learning and an unyielding love for music, culture, and the arts. She joined Mt. Lebanon A.M.E. Church at an early age and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1991. After graduation, Christy enrolled in the Navy where she excelled until being granted an honorable discharge and she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications from A&T (South Carolina).
Christy married Lotario “Andre” Robinson and they had two sons, Kieren Amaan and Kristian Blake Robinson, who she referred to as the “best things that ever happened to her and first true loves”.
Early in her career, Christy took her talents to Atlanta, Georgia where she successfully worked with AT&T in their telecommunications department — a career that afforded her the opportunity to purchase their first family home in Lithonia, GA at the young age of 24 years old.
In 2001, Christy and Andre amicably separated, and she boldly decided to build a quality life for and raise their children in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois which is where she lived with a zest for life. She constantly explored and embraced all her “favorite city” had to offer, traveled often, and made a successful career until her passing. She was employed as a Dispatch Supervisor until her health declined.
Christy was a very outgoing person and touched so many lives along the way. She was always encouraging everyone with positive words of wisdom. She always wanted everyone to be "better". She will be dearly missed by her parents of Cokesbury, SC; two sons, Kieren Amaan Robinson and Kristian Blake Robinson both of the home; one sister, Denita M. Harris of Honea Path; one brother, Lucious "Keith" Starks of Cokesbury, SC; one aunt, Minnie Lee Pruitt; two uncles, Stanley Starks and Donald Starks; as well as nieces and nephews, a great nephew and countless family and friends who loved her endlessly.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Oakbrook Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum. There will be no public viewing.
