Clara Sylvene (Galloway) Cornelius

Clara Sylvene Galloway Cornelius, 95, was born in Anderson, SC on January 23, 1927 as a twin to the late Robert Sr. and Ethel Ervin Galloway.  She made her transition to her heavenly home on August 3, 2022 in Marietta, GA.

Clara joined Salem Baptist Church at an early age.  She later relocated to Oakland, CA where she joined New Light Missionary Baptist Church and married the late Fred Douglas Cornelius.
Clara enjoyed talking to her friends, sewing, and making hats for the women of the church, especially for Pastor Rev. J.E. Hester's wife.
Surviving are three daughters, Roberta (Ulysses) Fant of Anderson, SC, Joe Ann Courtney of Van Nuys, CA, and Dorothea Cornelius of Marietta, GA; one son, Alphonso (Jean) Cornelius of Marietta, GA; siblings, Janie G. Rice and John (Shirley) Galloway both of Anderson, SC, Josephus Galloway of Central, SC, Robert (Delores) Galloway of Pelzer, SC; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Douglas Cornelius; parents, Robert Sr. and Ethel Ervin Galloway; one son, Larry Cornelius; three brothers, Clarence Sylvester Galloway, Floyd Galloway, and James Galloway; and one great-grandchild, Darius Johnson.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will be held at a later date at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette, California.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will be at their respective homes.
