Doris Berry Obituary

Doris Jeanette Lee Berry earned her crown on Sunday, December 19, 2021. She was a kidney cancer survivor and received the heavenly victory over liver cancer after four years. Jeanette was a graduate of Crescent High School and worked at Electrolux for 25+ years.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her grandparents; Ben and Ella Lee & Ed and Ella Scott; her parents, William James Lee and Dorothy Scott Lee.

She is survived by several aunts and one uncle: Linda Freeman, Gertrude Littlefield, Luella Henry (William Henry), Patricia Martin (Clyde Martin), Tommie Lee, and Walter Rochester. She is also survived by three siblings: William Patterson, Leon Lee (Veronica Lee), and Jackie Spear (Louis Spear). Jeanette was married to Louis Fidel Berry, Jr. for 38 years & has four children; Jenisha Nelson (Davon Nelson), Keaira Berry, Nicholas Berry, and Zykea Berry. Jeanette also has eight beautiful grandchildren with two more on the way.  Jeanette was a very strong, positive, faithful, and loving individual and mother. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through her family forever!

Since she was a young girl, Jeanette was devoted to serving at Generostee Baptist Church through her gift of song. Jeanette sang in the WBH Sanctuary Choir, GBC Mass Choir, and Genesis. She served as the piano player occasionally for Sunday morning services and played the piano for the Martin Family Choir as well as the GBC Youth Choir. Jeanette’s nephew, Minister Cameron Spear, began playing for the youth as she transitioned to directing. Her bright smile and gentle quiet spirit were no match for the gift that she carried as many were blessed by God shining through the many songs she led.

Jeanette loved her family, friends, and her church immensely. She had a heart of gold. Today, her children & family rise to call her blessed because she truly was the epitome of a virtuous woman!
