Edna Eula (Hardy) Butler

Mrs. Edna Eula Hardy Butler, 91, formerly of New Bern, NC passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at her home in Anderson, SC.  Edna was born in Starr, South Carolina on March 18, 1932 to the late Eva Edwards Walker.  She was reared in the home of the late Fretwell and Ada Hardy.

Edna left South Carolina and moved to New York City at an early age.  She lived in New York for over 30 years, before moving to New Bern, North Carolina with her husband, the late Thell Lewis Butler, Jr. and her son, Phillip Butler.  After living in New Bern for almost 30 years, Edna moved back home to South Carolina.

She is survived by her son, Phillip Butler and daughter-in-law, Gay Dingle-Butler; granddaughter, Hannah Butler; cousin, Gertrude Smith and many other cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.    

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Omega Omega Ritualistic Service and visitation of friends will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Oscar's Mortuary.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at St. Paul Catholic Church (3005 Country Club Road, New Bern, NC). Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

The family request that all floral arrangements be sent to Oscar's Mortuary in New Bern, North Carolina.
