Rev. Eric Christopher Gambrell was born on February 1, 1967 in Anderson, SC to Mr. James O. Gambrell and the late Mrs. Siggie Hattie Allgood Gambrell.
He joined Mt. Able Baptist Church located in Pendleton, SC at the age of 6. After joining Mt. Able at a young age, Eric and his brothers began ministering through music which inspired many generations. Eric graduated from T.L. Hanna High School in 1985. He furthered his education at Morris Brown College located in Atlanta, GA. After attending Morris Brown, he later attended North Greenville College located in Tigerville, SC, where he started the North Greenville College Choir. Eric also later received two degrees from Temple University. He was ordained as a Minister and as a Minister of Music. While pursuing his musical career, he became a radio host for WIMG 1300 AM located in Trenton, New Jersey and later became the Minister of Music for Shalom Baptist church in Philadelphia, PA. Eric has played for many influential gospel recording artists, such as: Yolanda Adams, Stephanie Mills, Tamela Mann, David Mann, as well as many others. He has received numerous awards and accolades across the world for his ministry in music. Eric was best known for his recording albums, “Build Me A Mansion” and “If My People”.
Eric leaves to cherish his loving memory, his father James O. Gambrell and two brothers Rickey B. (Ophelia) Gambrell of Anderson S.C., and Rev. Frederick D. (Annette) Gambrell of Atlanta, GA, and one sister-in-law Patricia Gambrell of Anderson S.C. Eric also leaves to cherish his memory, six nephews, a host of great nephews, great nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother Siggie Hattie Allgood Gambrell and two brothers Gregory G. Gambrell and Elder James E. Gambrell.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Mt. Able Baptist Church Cemetery. Limited seating will be available for guest. At the request of the family, please wear a mask.
