Esther Denise Jackson (Belton, SC), age 74, passed away on November 9, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side. Esther is survived by her son, Carnese Jackson & daughter-in-law, Becky Jackson (Atlanta, GA), sisters, Olar Dean Forrest (Charleston, SC) & Delores Ware (Anderson, SC), special niece, Sharon Smith (Belton, SC), sisters-in-law, Gracie Jackson (Ft. Walton Beach, FL) & Alice Jackson (Ft. Walton Beach, FL) and many family and friends that she held so dear and always close to her heart.
Esther Denise Jackson was born on August 19, 1949, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, to parents Enoch and Lee-Ray (Sistrump) Jackson, who preceded her in death, along with nine other siblings, Ruby Jewell Cason, LD Jackson, Cora Dean Johnson, Ida Dean Hines, Bornie-Ella McKinnon, Lonnie B. Jackson, Richard Jackson, Bobby Jackson, and Mittie B. Smith. Esther was the baby and relished in the unconditional love and lifelong companionship of her older brothers and sisters.
Esther moved to Anderson, SC, in 1968 after graduating from Tivioli High School in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She soon began a 40 year career at Owens Corning Fiberglass and welcomed her son, Carnese, in 1970. The bond between mother and son knew no bounds with Esther and Carnese. Esther thrived in her role as mother, which also extended to many nieces and nephews. She was a natural nurturer, confidante and protector.
Esther was beautiful inside and out, which made it fitting that she had a love for decorating and shopping. However, her true love was her family. Esther was happiest when surrounded by chatter, laughter and a good game of checkers with family and friends. She was the quintessential social butterfly.
The congregation at Trinity Baptist Church was Esther’s spiritual family, whom she loved dearly. As a woman of deep faith, Esther was a committed church member and friend to all.
Her family and friends will forever miss Esther, but find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her siblings in eternity.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Trinity Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Esther will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a repast at Trinity Baptist Church following the burial. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Esther.
Public viewing on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her sister, Delores Ware, 310 Kingsboro Road, Anderson, SC 29626.
