Evelyn Brock was introduced to the world on the 19th day of March in 1937 by her proud the parents, James R. and Rosa Brock. Evelyn grew up in Anderson County, South Carolina and Detroit, Michigan. She had two siblings, James A. and Janet Brock.
Evelyn worshiped at Royal Baptist Church for a number of years. She was married to James Gordon until his passing. Evelyn worked for many years at the Belton Dry Cleaners in Belton and at Little Pigs Barbecue in Anderson until she retired.
Evelyn's health declined over the past few years. Her daughter, Cathy lovingly cared for her until she transitioned peacefully at home the morning of Monday, October 11, 2021.
Evelyn's memories will be cherished by her six children: Cathy Wilson (David), Kenneth Burns, Polly Hatten, Johnnie Mae Burns, Eleanor Caldwell, and Eve Wideman; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Evelyn's parents, husband, sister, brother, granddaughter, Kwana Kenesa Burns, and great-grandson, Nylan Blanding all preceded her in death.
Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The family hour will begin at 10:30 a.m. The interment will follow at New Silverbrook Cemetery.
