Harry Randolph Thompson

Harry Randolph Thompson was born in Anderson, S.C. on November 13, 1955 to Beatrice Rice Thompson and the late Harry Samuel Thompson.  He grew up on the west side of Anderson among numerous friends and relatives.  "Randy" as he was fondly called, joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age where he was involved in Sunday School, the Youth Usher Board, and many other church activities.

Randy attended Perry Elementary School, Southwood Middle School and graduated from Westside High School in 1973.  During his high school career, he was an active member of the Rams Football Team, along with other school activities.  Randy enrolled at A&T University in Greensboro, NC and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he was employed by the Georgia Power Electric Company in Atlanta, Georgia as Senior Account Analyst.  He worked there until 1996.
Upon retirement from Georgia Power, Randy continued professional employment with several companies: U.P. Operation of the Murphy Foundation, Motorpool Manager of Atlanta Olympics, staff assistant of Travel for the Democratic Party Nominees, and Loan Executive for United Way of Atlanta.

Randy returned to Anderson to assist in the care of his ailing father.  During this time, he was employed by AIM as an outreach Ambassador for needy citizens in the community.  He also served on the Board of Directors of SHARE and as a volunteer for the Mercy Center and the Westside Community Center.  Randy was known for his outgoing personality, community involvement services, and family faithfulness.  He could be seen driving his father's 1984 Dodge pick-up truck, which he dearly loved.  Randy also dearly loved his family and community.  He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving mother, Beatrice Rice Thompson of Anderson, SC, two wonderful brothers Stephen Patrick Thompson and his wife, Michelle, of Dacula, GA and Darryl Alexander Thompson of the home, a devoted uncle, Elliott Rice of Charlotte, NC, and a host of relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.

At the request of the family, if you plan to attend the service, please wear a mask.
