Henrietta Sims Mattress

On Wednesday, December 1, 2021 the Lord wanted another flower to add to his garden.  So He whispered softly to Mrs. Henrietta Sims Mattress...it's time to come home.

Henrietta was born on October 27, 1929 in Anderson County to the late Arthur and Eva Mae Maddox Sims.  She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she attended until her health declined.  She attended Public School in Anderson County.  She was a retired employee of Clemson University, after many years of dedicated service.

Henrietta was united in holy matrimony to Mr. T.C. Mattress, Sr., who preceded her in death on November 17, 2009.

Those left to cherish her loving memories: one beloved daughter, Eva Loretta Mattress Jones of the home; two sons, T.C. (Linda) Mattress of Westminster, SC and Joseph Mattress of the home; one sister, Ilean Irving of Pickerington, Ohio; eight grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. Mattress, Sr.; parents, Arthur and Eva Mae Maddox Sims; grandparents; two sons, Albert and Jerry Mattress; one granddaughter, Kimberly Mattress; son-in-law, Melvin Jones; two daughters-in-law, Sharon Caldwell and Rita Faye Gantt Mattress; four sisters, Mattie E. Sims, Alberta Coleman, Lillie M. Sims, and Betty Agnew; eight brothers, C.L., A.D., Jake, Gunnell, Clyde, Edward, Bobby, and Issac Sims; and several in-laws.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
