James Wideman Obituary

Mr. James Elbert Wideman was born in Anderson, SC on August 2, 1954 to James Isaiah Wideman and Wilma Vandiver Wideman.  He departed this life at the age of 68 on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at his home.

James left his home in Anderson SC at the age of 18 to proudly serve his country as both a Marine and a Soldier in the United States Armed Forces. He loved music and laughter which earned his loving reputation for being the life of the party, he was a devoted fan of the Clemson Tigers and Minnesota Vikings. He loved being a grandfather and jumped at any opportunity to travel to see his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of being his mother's only son and the uncle to twenty-one nieces and nephews. His bright light and big personality will linger on to comfort us all, as we will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his two daughters, Audri Harper and Tracee Wideman-Davis (Brandon); four grandchildren, Jacasia M. Ladson, Jaylon M. Ladson, Jordan S. McGee, and Brandon C Davis II; two great-grandchildren, Karyss C. Ladson and Nova Leigh Ladson; two sisters, Doris Vandiver Scotland and Trussie Louise Wideman; twenty-one nieces and nephews with special recognition to his eldest niece, Lisa L. Wideman; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Duggan Wideman and three sisters, Willie Rene Campbell, Alma Jean Craft, and Betty Lucille Wideman.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
