Joe Timothy Mattison

On Thursday, January 19, 2023 Joe Timothy Mattison passed away at the age of 87 at AnMed Medical Center.  He was born June 21, 1935 to N.A. and Leona Mattison in Anderson, South Carolina.  Joe was a veteran of the United States Army.  He worked for Duke Energy until he retired.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, JoElaine Brownlee and Kimberly Mattison both of Anderson, SC; his son, Rufus (Rachel) Rice of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Rashad Mattison, Justin Martin, Jordan Mattison, Chavice Rice, Corey Rice, Kourtney Martin and Jade Mattison all of Anderson, SC; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Mattison; parents, N.A. and Leona Mattison; two daughters, Irene Mattison and Lee Donna Martin; brothers, Rufus Hood, Wayman Hood, and James Hood; and two sisters, Claudia Simpson and Annese Frazier.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  Public viewing Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The interment will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
