Lizzie Thompson Obituary

Ms. Lizzie L. Thompson, age 87, departed this life on Friday, March 29, 2024, in Anderson SC. She was the daughter of the late Gabriel Miller and Bertha Guyton Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Ramelle Thompson.

She leaves to cherish memories; one sister, Dorothy Miller Dawson and brother-in-law Billy Dawson; a beloved nephew, Eric (Cheon) Dawson and a very special niece, Sandra Dawson; a beloved niece, Doretha Dawson; great nieces, Irieana Dawson of Atlanta, GA and NaKayla Dawson of Snellville, GA; great nephew, Braylin Dawson of Snellville, GA; one beloved great-great-niece, Ia Dawson of Atlanta, GA; great-great-nephew, Imir Roberts of Atlanta, GA; god grandchildren, Khia Pearson of Charlotte, NC, Shenice Scott of Charlotte, NC, and Kiara Scott of Rock Hill, SC; and beloved family members, Charles and Parralee Jacobs-Perry of Petersburgh, VA and their daughter, Jacquelyn (Douglas) Robinson-Tiller. She also leaves to cherish fond memories to her caregiver, Pam Campbell, her caring neighbor, Ms. Inez Martin, cherished friends, George and Jean Sanford, and their daughter, Carla all of New York and Deacon Shawn Holland also of New York, Mrs. Vera Congress of Alabama; and many loving relatives in Anderson, South Carolina.

Lizzie was a graduate of Old Westside High School in 1954, where she was a dedicated basketball player.  In her past time, she enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo. Lizzie resided in Nyack, NY for over 40 years where she was a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Christ Inc. She was known as Grandma to many kids in the church. She was a faithful member, as she served on multiple ministries.  She served on the Pastor Aid Ministry and the Women’s Missionary Ministry. Also, she was the President of the Usher Ministry. She faithfully attended Sunday School and Bible Study, where she received plaques for excellence in Stewardship. 

In 2009, Lizzie moved back to Anderson, SC to be close to family and loved ones. She moved her letter back to Royal Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended. Her final days were spent sharing and reflecting on memories with her family and loved ones.

The Family would like to THANK the staff of Regency Hospital and Rainey Hospice for their acts of care and kindness that was given to Lizzie and the Family during her stay.  We will forever be grateful.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Royal Baptist Church.  The interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.  Public viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
