Louise Barnes Rivers, 82, entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was born in Savannah, GA to Albert Barnes and Rosa Barnes but raised by Earnest Martin and Alberta Martin in Beaufort, SC.
Louise finished her schooling in Anderson, SC. At the age of fifty, she went back to school and got her GED. She continued her education getting her Cosmetology License and began working as a cosmetologist until she took sick. She was a member of Wilson Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a Deaconess, a member of the Missionary, and participated in Sunday School.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rosa Barnes, Earnest and Alberta Martin; one daughter, Naomi Barnes Singleton; two sons, Earnest Rivers and Stanley Rivers; and eight siblings, Carolina Washington, Albert Barnes, Sarah Washington, Charlie Barnes, James Barnes, Laura Barnes, Fredretha Barnes, and Katie Mae Singleton.
Louise leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband of 62 years, Wilma Eugene Rivers of Anderson, SC; five sons, Earl Rivers of El Paso, Texas, Albert (Earlean) Rivers of Warsaw, NC, Willie Eugene Rivers of Charlotte, NC, Rev. Roger Lee (Rev. Shawn) Rivers of Elberton, GA, Henry (Pomzella) Singleton, Sr. of Seabrook, SC; two daughters, Minister Sandra Cannon of Anderson, SC and Norma Rivers of Anderson, SC; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Rebecca Delaney of Bronx, NY; a special nephew, Leroy Speaks; a special niece, Lana Nicole Delaney Stor; her in-laws, Gladys Rivers of Beaufort, SC, Prophetess Leola Rivers of Beaufort, SC, Rev. Gloria (Rev. Bobby) Houston of Beaufort, SC, Billy (Marie) Rivers of Yemassee, SC, Leon Rivers of Hampton, SC, and Jackie Rivers of Beaufort, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Wilson Calvary Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Public viewing Friday from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
