Mrs. Siggie Hattie Allgood Gambrell was born on February 2, 1944 in Anderson County to the late James Dennis "J.D." and Lessie Williams Allgood. She departed this life on November 29, 2021.
Siggie joined Mt. Able Baptist Church at an early age, where she worked in many capacities in the church: missionary worker, singing on the gospel choir and later she joined the senior choir.
Singing was more than a hobby for her. It was something she LOVED to do. If you called her and needed to be uplifted with a song, she was right there. She loved calling people on their birthdays to sing her very own happy birthday song.
Siggie's smile and especially her voice will dearly be missed by so many she blessed throughout the years.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband,, James O. Gambrell; three sons, Rick (Ophelia) Gambrell, Rev. Fredrick (Dorothy Annette) Gambrell, and Rev. Eric Gambrell; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma McBride and Lucester Stowers; one brother, James Allgood; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Walker Gambrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lessie Williams Allgood; two sons, Gregory Gambrell and Rev. James E. Gambrell; three sisters, Inez Lee, Virgie Burnside, and Nancy Gambrell; and four brothers, Cathell N. Allgood, Benjamin Allgood, Gendale Allgood, and Eston Allgood.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Mt. Able Baptist Church Cemetery.
