Tommie Etta Hardy Lee transitioned peacefully and was called to rest on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Simpsonville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Simpsonville, SC. Tommie was born on December 2, 1940 in Anderson County, South Carolina. She was the 12th of 12 children born to the late Acie and Etta Hall Hardy.
Tommie was educated in the Anderson County Public School System. She graduated from New Deal School in 1960. After graduation, Tommie took classes in typing and shorthand. It was at New Deal School, where Tommie met her future husband, Joe Thomas Lee. Joe and Tommie married in 1961.
Tommie joined Generostee Baptist Church at an early age. Tommie loved the Lord and was always willing to help those in need. For many years, she worked at Scott Company, Singer Plant (now Ryobi), and Frigidaire.
Tommie joins her husband, Joe Thomas Lee; seven brothers, Earnest Hardy, Edward Hardy, Alfred Hardy, June Hardy, Marshall Hardy, Cliff Hardy, Albert Hardy; and three sisters, Etha Patterson, Elvira Hairston, Azalee Elliott, who precedes her in death.
She is survived by her son, Anthony (Janie) Lee of Anderson, SC; three daughters, Alfreda (Barron) Boyd of Simpsonville, SC, Allison Lee of Spartanburg, SC, and Abigail Lee of Snellville, GA; two granddaughters, Andrea Lee Hill and Aliyah Lee; two grandsons, Dontay (Feather) Lee and Dominick Lee; three great-granddaughters, Xzaria Hanks, Lauren Hall, and Everleigh Eversole; three step-grandchildren, Dakota Bannister, Jeremiah Hilderbrand, and David Hilderbrand; one sister, Alice Dubose of Ft. Inn, SC; one half-brother, Pete (Willie Lee) Boston of Anderson, SC; five sisters-in-law, Betty R. Hardy of Anderson, SC, Carolyn Lampkin Hardy of Cincinnati, OH, Patricia (Clyde) Martin of Anderson, SC, Luella (William) Henry of Baltimore, MD, and Gertrude Littlefield of Sacramento, CA; one brother-in-law, Charles Mills of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, other family members, and friends.
* Please note the location change: The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Generostee Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
